Tetons “Our Hike”

P1020418 Stitch-2

Jenny Lake – Hidden Falls – Inspiration Point – Lake Solitude   Total miles:  19.5

The second day we did our serious hike.  It would have been shorter but the ferry running across the lake wasn’t running so we had to hike around the lake and we took a detour at one point. I never would have thought I could walk so much, especially pregnant :) But we took it really slow, took a lot of breaks, and I ate a ton.  Plus, I’ve never seen anything so pretty so I was distracted by the scenery. We saw lakes, overlooked a mountain, canyons, huge green hills, boulders, forests, water falls, lakes, peaks, ice….

P1020317 This was right outside our hotel. Cowboys :)

P1020322 It was cold when we started since it was so early

P1020332 P1020334 At the very beginning of our hike we were on a narrow trail when Jason stopped suddenly. I looked up and 5-10 feet in front of us was a moose just standing here. We climbed up on some rocks so she and her baby could pass by us. So neat!!!

P1020408 Lake Solitude. You had to hike 10 miles to get here so literally no one was there. It was so pretty and there’s still some snow up there.

The Grand Tetons

For Jason’s 30th Birthday we took a trip to the Grand Tetons. Jason had always wanted to go there and it turned out to be an amazing vacation. I was taken back by when I saw the Tetons. Everything was so pretty you just had to stop and stare every once in awhile. We were pretty much all alone on our hikes; rarely seeing anyone only wildlife! We were out there for almost 6 days and did so much that we can’t fit them into a single blog, so the next 3 will cover the entire trip!

I knew it would be hard to leave Katherine but I didn’t realize how emotional it would make me. The first night and first morning were definitely the hardest and it was almost more than I could handle. After that it got a lot easier until the end. I called home twice a day and Kate was always having fun and I could hear her babbling away in the background. That really helped. It was again hard at the end of our trip and by the time we were on the plane coming home I could barely stand it – I wanted to see her soooo bad!

The first day we woke up at 4AM to catch our super early flight. We landed around 11Am Mountain time so we went and got our passes then went on a short hike around Sting Lake. We saw our first moose this day. Then we went to Jackson hole which is such a cute little town.

We checked into our hotel in Teton Village and they took us to a room with 2 beds. I told him we only needed one bed and he called the desk. He told the front desk we were really nice people, hung up, and took us to a completely separate part of the lodge. Our room was amazing. It was huge, had a fireplace, and I’ve never seen such a big bath tub. Plus, we had our own little private lobby with its own entrance, which was nice because we always got lost trying to walk through the place. The guy that took us to our room said “We could all tell you were on your honeymoon.” Jason and I just looked at each other and were like yep, on our honeymoon. This December will be 5 years so it could qualify as a second honeymoon!

Memphis Trip

We flew up to Memphis for my cousin's wedding and we were able to go a couple days early so we could stay at my Uncle and Aunt's house before going to the hotel. It was a lot of fun visiting Howard and Pam and then seeing all the TN family for the wedding. On Friday, Jason and I went to Beale Street since neither one of us had been there before. It's a really cute street and we ate lunch at Hard Rock Cafe. After lunch we went to some of the shops and bought a kazoo for Kate and a Christmas ornament for us.

The wedding was so pretty. At the reception, Kate was dancing the entire time. It was seriously the cutest thing. I'm sad I didn't have my camera at the wedding because Kate was too cute and I loved the bride's dress. We left to drive home right after the reception and drove straight through the night. This may not have been much fun for Jason and my Dad but it was perfect for Kate and me. She slept practically the whole car ride and we only had to stop once.

*The hotel ran out of pack-n-plays so we pulled out the sofa bed put a million pillows around it and Kate slept the whole night and napped on a big bed!
