Family of Five

We decided very last minute to do some family pictures. Thankfully, Dana came over and took our pictures for us. They turned out so good!

Six Flags

It was GA Tech night at Six Flags and I had been looking forward to taking the girls for months. So, even though it was the night of my first chemo day I decided to go. We left Liam with my parents and met Susan, Pat, Johnson, Laura, Andy, Drew, Brady, Luke, Anna, Jenny and Brian. The kids had a blast! Kate is definitely a thrill seeker. She loved the real roller coaster best and wanted to be in front. Abby had a lot of fun too. I loved being able to go on the rides together as a family. It was one of my favorite nights!

Kate's 1st Day of School

I knew Kate was ready for school to start halfway through summer. She was getting bored at home and missing the routine of preschool. Her school only offered a 4 or 5 day a week program for 4 year olds. Originally, I even considered looking at another preschool since I only wanted her to go 3 days a week. I'm so glad I decided to stick with her school and do 4 days. They are amazing and Kate is so comfortable there. Kate did not quite understand why she couldn't have the same kids in class from last year. She was especially disappointed to learn Andrew, a tiny little boy, wasn't in her class. (They were so funny to watch play together because he was literally half her size. The great thing about little kids is how physical stuff doesn't matter and they become buddies simply because they like each other)! When we first went to meet her teachers she was shy at first. It takes her a little time to warm up and become comfortable. She's been in preschool almost a month now and loves going!

Abby's First Day

Abby begged all last year to go to school, everytime we took Kate. We told her she would be able to go with Grandma next year. My Mom attends a bible study for 2 hours a week on Wednesday and they offer a preschool program. From then on Abby would tell us every day that after her nap Grandma was going to take her to school. Or if we ever referred to her being older she would interrupt us to remind us when she's older Grandma is going to take her to school. She was obsessesd and brought it up all the time! The day finally came for Abby to go to school with Grandma. This girl had no nerves. My Mom said she ran in right away and didn't even say bye :) She's such a social little thing!

Reality Check

I was organizing my new pill box, yes, like an old lady, when I told Jason I was worried about how many Aleve I'm supposed to take (5 in 3 days). He just started laughing and said considering all the chemo I'm about to get Aleve should not be a concern. It definitely got a laugh out of me! This is just new for me considering I was the girl who rarely even took a Tylenol!

First Day of Chemotherapy:

Jason came with me in the morning when we met with the Doctor and for me to get set up and started. Then my sister came with bags of goodies and proceeded to sit on a small roller chair for multiple hours! I definitely appreciated everything. My parents watched ALL 3 kids ALL day! I don't know what I'd do without my family.

Rainy Day

We had one of those warm rainy days that are perfect for kids. I gave the girls their rain coats and decided to not care about how muddy or dirty they would get and told them to have fun!

Sisters are the best!

5 Months

Liam is growing so fast! He sits up supported and prefers to be carried and moved around at all times. He's still blowing rasberries and has tried some oatmeal and loves it! Liam is still super affectionate and such a happy baby. Everyone comments on how happy he is all the time!

Nashville

That would be Nashville, GA not TN! We went down to Laura and Andy's for the weekend for Anna's blessing. It was actually a crazy weekend. Jason left around 12 on Friday for a boy scout campout. I spent Saturday taking the girls to a gymnastics class then packing and loading up the car. Jason got home around 5PM, took a quick shower, and we took off right away. Luckily, we got there pretty quick so it wasn't too late.

We got to see their new house they just built. So pretty! We stayed Monday so the kids could swim in their pool (also very pretty) and have some play time. Kate and Abby had so much fun playing with the boys and their toys and swimming in the pool. They even got to ride in the truck to go see their cows! We left Monday evening and were in the car for only few minutes before everyone passed out. It was a fun weekend and we're glad we were able to be there!

What I'm Grateful For and Not So Much

Why I'm Grateful
  • I have an amazing support system of family, friends, and church
  • Many people are praying for me
  • I have a strong marriage
  • We are done having kids and that we had our kids when we were young
  • I was able to nurse Liam for 5 months
  • Jason has an incredible job which will allow him to work from home and make his own hours
  • I live near my parents
  • My Doctor didn't dismiss it as a milk duct or fibroadenoma, which she was convinced it was and every sign pointed to.
  • We live in Atlanta near the best doctors
  • I have a strong testimony in God and Jesus Christ, and can do anything through my faith in God!

Not So Much...
  • I have aggressive cancer, duh, even though I'm the epitome of being low risk...
  • I had to stop nursing Liam
  • I have to go through chemo, surgery, radiation. I'm scared, mainly of the unknown.

Why I'm MOST Grateful
  • Our babies are all healthy! What more could I really ask for?!
