Over the Hill?

Happy Birthday Jason! He’s now 31 yrs old! Totally kidding about being over the hill but remember when 30 sounded so old? I know everyone says this, but it really doesn’t seen like we’re any older…

I like how Jason and Abby are looking straight at the camera

Presents are very tempting for a 2.5yr old!

Jason chose to spend part of his Birthday washing my car with Kate. He’s such an awesome Dad!!!

One Fine Day

Every once in awhile we have a perfect morning/afternoon/day. Today we had a very simple yet perfect morning. It wasn’t hot out (finally) so Kate, Abby, and I went to the playground. Abby and Kate both love the swings so I put Abby in the baby swing and Kate on the big swing. I took turns pushing them while they both just laughed out loud. Seriously, hearing both of your children laughing/giggling at the same time has to be the best thing ever! Then we had a picnic which Kate loved. I left Abby on the blanket with a couple of toys while Kate and I played on the playground. Abby’s been sitting for about a month but within the past couple of weeks she not only sits but grabs different toys within her reach without falling over. I forgot how great this stage is for entertaining herself. She played contently on the blanket (which is rare since she’s NEVER alone, so not usually a big fan of being left). What made the morning so nice was that everyone was happy and laughing and there was no crying or whining or disobeying or breaking of objects. Simple yet perfect :)

Oh, and at 6months 1week Abby weighs almost 17lbs4ozs. I need to take a picture of just her thighs or her cheeks because they are soooo cute!

1st Day of School

My Mom goes to bible study on Wednesdays and they have a pre-k program for all relatives who attend. Kate now goes to “school” from 9:30-11:30 most Wednesday mornings. She’s only been once but loved it and is so excited to go back. My Mom said she was really nervous the night before. I, however, wasn’t too nervous because Kate has been going to nursery at church for almost a year and she does well there. My Mom said Kate went right in and was sitting at her little table coloring with the other kids when she went to get her.

Who’s the Parent?

I love that Katherine now uses our own words against Jason and me.

Like when she tells me to “Stop scratching your booboo Mommy” (stupid mosquito bites that drive me insane)

or when she tells Jason “Use words Daddy” (when he makes silly noises), or “Eat food Daddy don’t play with food” (as he tries to flip his sandwich using just his plate) which led to “Daddy make mess, clean mess up.” My favorite is after Jason attempted to clean up all the crumbs he made, Kate informed him that there was still a mess and he needed to finish cleaning everything. My kind of girl!

She also likes to tell Abby to “pay attention to Mommy” when I’m trying to feed her solids or shushes Abby in the car because she’s “too loud.”

Abby just sits around laughing all day long. She is the happiest baby ever! Kate’s favorite thing to do now is play peek-a-boo or dance and sing in front of Abby to see if she can get Abby to laugh.

My family makes me smile, A LOT

August Continued

We took another trip to Columbus. Laura was coming up and it was around Jason’s birthday and Rachel’s 13th birthday. As always the kids had a blast. We even took the boat out one night and went swimming in the semi freezing water. Jason did a backflip off the boat and the next day he fully realized he is now over 30 :)
