Independence Day

On the 4th of July my Dad and I run the Peachtree Road Race. We did pretty good and only walked up the big hills. I have to say my out of shape/had a baby 3 months ago body kicked butt and wasn’t even sore after. There’s nothing like seeing people running while holding the flag or soldiers running to make you feel patriotic. While we were waking up at 5AM and sweating it out, my Mom and Jason watched the St. Ives parade with the girls. I heard Kate had a lot of fun because people were handing out treats to her…

Swim Time

Jason took the day off work and we went to Columbus for the weekend. We took the boat out one day and the older kids went on the tube and then everyone went swimming in the lake. The kids had a blast riding on the boat, except for Matthew who cut his toe at the end. Then we all went swimming in the pool. This was the first time Abby got in the pool. I haven’t wanted to take her to the neighborhood pool because I don’t want her to get splashed and she’s still so little that it would be easy for her to accidently inhale water and there’s just so much bacteria in those pools even with all the chlorine (which isn’t any better). Abby loved being in the pool, probably because it was so warm and she just hung out in her float, being lazy.

Swimming with Daddy

DSC_0860 She really preferred to hang out in her float and get a tan :)

There is no way she’s going under with everything we have her in! I have a slight fear of pools and kids. This is probably the first time I wasn’t literally touching her in the pool but we were never far.

Kate & Abby

I know I’ve mentioned this before but I am so glad Kate has a sister that she gets to grow up with and tell secrets to and fight with and cry with… If you were going to have a baby sister Abby is by far the best you could get :)

Kate is a wonderful big sister too.

“The One”

How I Knew:

This happened when we were very first dating; before the I love yous and the I want to get married someday. Jason gave me 3 CDs that he made for me. Later, as I was listening to them I realized I liked every single song on every CD. I told him how crazy it was that all the songs he picked I really liked. I found out that over the previous couple of weeks, whether we were hanging out at his apartment or in the car every time I mentioned I liked a song he would remember then go home and download it. Pretty sure at that moment I knew Jason could be the one.

How I Still Know:

I need to start by saying Jason absolutely hates artificial orange flavoring. He won’t even let me get the orange tic tacs because he claims just the smell gives him a headache. The other night we were watching a movie and he was eating a popsicle. I asked if he would get me a red popsicle too. He told me there was only an orange one left but I could have his since he’d only taken one little bite of it. He was going to give up his popsicle or eat one he hated just so I could have what I wanted. He does so many things but doesn’t like for me to share since they’re “private,” which I totally get but figured he wouldn’t get too mad if I talked about a popsicle! This probably sounds very silly and not like a big deal but it pretty much sums up Jason’s thoughtfulness and why he is most definitely still the one!

Serious Hikers

Whenever we go hiking I like to point out to Jason the people who I think are the crazy/serious hikers. I was doing this our last trip when Jason told me that maybe we are the serious hikers. I started to laugh and was about to point out how wrong he was until I thought about it and realized that not only were we using our vacation to go hiking but were hiking with a 2 year old and a 3 month old. He then reminded me that we did do a 20+ mile hike and spent an entire week in the Tetons.  I think Jason may be on to something…
