I should say I
finally turned 30 because I've been thinking I was turning 30 for the past couple of years. I was excited for this birthday because I feel like it's a pretty big one. Not sure why exactly.
We couldn't do anything big since we had a nursing 3 month old but it was still a fun birthday. I celebrated it in little bursts over a few weeks. Dinner with some girlfriends at my favorite local restaurant, Bonefish, followed by a girl movie I've wanted to see that was actually pretty good. Dinner with my parents and some relatives with my all time favorite dessert. We even went on a date night that started at 6 and ended after midnight. Big deal for me considering I've only been out a handful of times without Liam since he was born. He took two bottles (never done that before) and did fine. We went to dinner at La Tavola in the Highlands with some friends. I'm a huge fan of trying new restaurants and this one definitely met my approval. I also forgot how cute that area is, so we had to walk around, shop in some boutiques, and listen to a street band.
Then I got to see Jason's office since he works right by there now. The building is owned by an interior designer so it's trendy and way neater than I expected. A start up business in a garage :) Then a quick detour to Atlantic Station and finally back to our side of town for a movie I've wanted to see. I wouldn't have been able to comfortably leave all our kids with a babysitter (bedtime for a 4 and 2 yr old and 3 month old is no easy task), but my awesome parents offered to watch the kids. It's so nice being able to go out without worrying. I've obviously left the kids with my parents many times before and it's always nice to know your kids are with someone who truly loves them! Before Liam, we usually went out one night (sometimes more) almost every weekend. Eventually we'll be brave and start using sitters again. I know this is just a stage and am enjoying living in the moment and this stage of our life.
I feel like I'm entering a transitional point in my life and it makes me excited. We have so many plans for our family over the next few years, and while I would like to freeze our kids in time at their current ages, I'm looking forward to all the fun we're going to have!
(My favorite part of my birthday was when all the celebrating was over and Jason surprised me with my favorite gift ever).
